My friend Tommy Rehbein from Small Towns Burn A Little Slower and Farewell Continental used to play guitar in the Huntingtons. He joined the band between Sweet Sixteen and Fun and Games. His nickname was “Tommy Tantrum” and he drew all the cool cartoon pictures for the album. Fun and Games was released in 1997 and was produced by Mass Giorgini, the producer for bands such as Screeching Weasel and the Riverdales. It was after this album that the band signed with Tooth and Nail records. Here’s the link to hear the album.

The Huntingtons became one of the greatest Ramones cover bands of all time. Influenced by groups similar to the Ramones, Screeching Weasel and the Riverdales, the band released its first album more than 12 years ago. Even though the band is retired, the first album is still one of my favorites. It’s a rough recording, but it brings back good memories. Here’s the link.

Since there was the release of some of the Keith Green material that was previously in the vault by Sparrow Records, I decided I would post a link to his pre-Christian album entitled: Keith Green “Live: His Incredible Youth”. You can still find it on eBay or Amazon, but it might cost you $20.  The album is a little more edgy with titles such as “Everybody’s Rapin’ Mother Nature,” but Keith’s piano playing and sense of humor shine through.

I came across the Chagall Guevara album the other day. It was a band that Steve Taylor fronted in the early 90s and the group only released one album. The band went nowhere, but retains a cult following with live videos on YouTube. You can pick up the record for about $20 on Amazon or eBay. You can also stream it here. “Violent Blue” and “Escher’s World” are the most popular songs, but “Love is a Dead Language” is one of my favorites.
